Hagar Wins at Riverside
West Memphis, AR– November 14, 2010
– The 2nd annual USCS Fall Nationals presented by Union Auto Parts finale for the United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear winged sprint cars at historic Riverside Speedway on Sunday night produced two different winners. Neither driver had won a race at the nation’s oldest continuously operating short track.
The 2006 USCS Rookie of the year Derek Hagar from nearby Marion, Arkansas put his name in the track record books by winning the first of the twin twenty-lap main events. The first race started straight up after a series of qualifying races on Friday and Sunday.
Veteran, Sikeston, Missouri sprint car star, Jerrod Hull who had also never won at the 61 year-old speed plant, captured the victory in the second fully inverted 20-lap main event after starting fourth. The event was originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 12th and Saturday, Nov. 13th, but after completing four 10-lap qualifying heat races and a 12-lap K&N Filters Pole Scramble race for the top eight drivers on Friday night, steady rain on Saturday made the racers have to wait until Sunday to run the Finals. Sunday’s format included twin 12-lap B-Mains to complete the starting alignment for the 22-car feature race number one. On Friday night Don Young from Bartlett, Tennessee won the six cars, six laps Goodyear Speed Dash. Cody Gardner from Benton, Arkansas won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race, Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat Race, the defending series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee won the FSR Racing Products Third Heat Race and Jerrod Hull from Sikeston, Missouri won the fourth and final Schoenfeld Headers Heat Race. Cody Gardner was the victor in the race for the K&N Filters Pole Position in the K&N Filters Pole Scramble.
