Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (Aug. 25, 2015) – Derek Hagar is seeking his first win of the season at one of his home tracks this weekend.

Hagar, who has eight feature victories overall this year, will tackle I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., on Saturday in an effort to return to Victory Lane there for the first time since registering two wins at the quarter-mile bullring in April 2014.

“We haven’t picked up a win there this year so hopefully we can get our first one out of the way this weekend,” he said. “We’ll go there with the same mission to win, but it’ll also be good to get more laps around that place and see if I can figure out anything different that will help me in October. We’ll use it as a test session and we’ll try to win the race.”

Hagar has competed at the track three times this season. He charged from 12th to fifth place in April, placed third in June and rallied from 12th to fourth in July.

Saturday presents one of the few remaining opportunities to compete at the track prior to this year’s Short Track Nationals, which is a premier event held Oct. 21-24 at I-30 Speedway.

“One of our biggest goals each year is to win the Short Track Nationals,” he said. “I think we have the talent to accomplish that dream, but we still need to show improvement. Hopefully this Saturday we can gain in the areas we need to and we can pick up a win. That would be a nice boost for when we return there in a couple months.”

Hagar ended up taking last weekend off because of a high chance of rain throughout the USCS doubleheader at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Ga.
