Hagar Racing 305 Sprint Car at Riverside International Speedway This Saturday
Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (June 19, 2018) – Derek Hagar is hopping into a 305ci winged sprint car this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway.
Hagar will climb behind the wheel of the Jerry Caldwell owned No. 11b at the bullring in West Memphis, Ark.
“He’s a customer of mine and they just got a new motor so he wants to shake it down real good and see what’s going on with it,” Hagar said. “I can give them an idea on what they need to change if they need to change anything.”
Hagar has one 305 sprint car start this season. He powered from 11th to third before exiting the track early because of a radiator cap problem during the Hooker Hood Classic.
“It’s a big horsepower difference and with the way the car handles,” he said. “Everything is slower reacting. You just have to keep momentum up in these cars. Once you lose momentum it’s hard to get it back.”
Hagar said the main goal is to help the Caldwell team learn more about the new engine, but he’s also aiming to capture his first career 305 winged sprint car feature victory.
“I won a non-wing 305 race in like 2007 or 2008,” he said. “It’s been a long time ago.”
Hagar has posted two top fives in 360 competition and an 11th-place run during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show at Riverside International Speedway this year.
