Hagar Seeking Six-Year Winning Streak at I-30 Speedway During ASCS National Tour Race This Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (May 19, 2021) – Derek Hagar ran into misfortune last weekend while traveling to a weekend of 410ci winged sprint car competition.

“We made it just over the border into Missouri when the truck started overheating so we had to turn around,” he said. “Thankfully B&D Towing and Recovery is loaning us a truck while we get that one fixed. They’ve been great friends and sponsors, and we’re grateful for their help to allow us to keep racing.”

While Hagar was unable to race last weekend he will return to action this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., where the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour is competing. It will mark Hagar’s season debut with the ASCS National Tour.

“We always run well there whenever ASCS shows up,” he said. “It’d be nice to get a hometown track win.”

Hagar earned an ASCS National Tour victory at I-30 Speedway last October when he captured the opening night of the Short Track Nationals.

“We need to get a good pill draw and pass cars to have a shot on Saturday,” he said. “Passing points are very important to make the feature redraw and then getting a good redraw pill is crucial. It’s tough starting eighth with these guys. Everyone is so consistent and good. It’ll come down to getting a good pill draw early in the night and getting a good pill draw in the feature redraw if we’re able to make that.”

Saturday will mark Hagar’s first race of the season at I-30 Speedway, where he won three times last year, twice in 2019 and once each in 2018, in 2017 and in 2016 to enter this weekend with a five-year winning streak.
